    • Proper usage of variable air volume boxes VAVs.
    • Retro and Re commissioning, systems tune up
    • Continuous Commissioning Cx and MBCx as an analogous approach to predictive maintenance to use proactive monitoring to discover improvements
    • Usage of fresh air –economizer cycle- to naturally condition spaces to save energy and environment. Plus, free cooling upgrades
    • Proper Engineering assessments to determine HVAC and mechanical equipment conditions – Replace / Upgrade to save.
    • Heat recovery methods:
        • Energy recovery ventilators (ERV)
        • Heat recovery ventilators (HRV)

Variable frequency drives play a key role in any energy management plan. A variable frequency drive is used to vary the speed of motors that drive fans, pumps and other equipment in relation to changing heating and cooling requirements. By modulating the speed of the controlled motor the motor will consume less power at lower speeds.  In addition, reduced exhaust air flow will result in reduced heat loss, make up air flow and ultimately reduced heating and air conditioning requirements. This system allows variable frequency drives to improve comfort while reducing energy consumption and costs.

Heat recovery is a method of re-claiming lost heat.  When warm air is exhausted from a building it is wasted and must be reheated, unless it is reclaimed.  Reclaiming this heat can be done in a number of ways.  One way is to place a heat exchanger in the air flow of the exhaust and a heat exchanger in the make up air flow entering the building.  When water or glycol is pumped through a piping system from the exhaust air heat exchanger to the make up air heat exchanger the heat exhausted is absorbed by the water or glycol and then circulated to the make up air heat exchanger where it is reclaimed through absorption.  In this way the make up air that enters the building is heated, saving energy as well as heating costs.

We strongly believe in proactive energy management, which will help your company reduce expenses by lowering your overall heating, cooling and hydro costs. At Hamilton Oliver Thermal Control Ltd. we specialize in recognizing opportunities to modify your building heat/cool load profile and reduce your energy consumption.
